Mpxplay is a free audio player that can be run under MS-DOS as well as Windows version 3.11 or higher .

Functions

Mpxplay offers all the basic functions of an audio player, including support for DSP plugins and cross-fading of individual tracks. It is fully controllable via keyboard shortcuts, also due to the lack of mouse support in DOS.

Also, the filtering of playlists and the reading and writing of Unicode - ID3 tags are possible.

Under Windows, Mpxplay can use both DirectSound and the Wave Mapper as output drivers, so that newer audio hardware is also supported.

particularities

The user interface is largely composed of ASCII characters . This makes the program very compact and uses only a few resources. The Windows version is opened in a console window and can also be operated there with the mouse; However, since a button is not available for every function, some functions such as changing the active drive can only be accessed using keyboard shortcuts.
