Mr. Vain is a song by the dance floor band Culture Beat that became a number one hit in 1993.

Music and lyrics

The title was written by Nosie Katzmann , Steven Levis and Jay Supreme, and produced by Torsten Fenslau , who died in a car accident in the year of publication. The stanzas are sung by Jay Supreme, the chorus by Tania Evans . The text is about a man who is convinced that women all over the world find him sexually attractive.

Charts

Mr. Vain was released on April 16, 1993.

The title was the best-selling single in Europe in 1993. In the typical style of Eurodance at the time , the song first made its breakthrough in Germany and then climbed to the top of the charts in twelve countries over the summer. The song reached number one in the UK singles chart in August 1993 and climbed to number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 . In the same year a remix of Mr. Vain was released and in 2003 another version called Mr. Vain Recall (including the remix by CJ Stone, which was important for chart placement ). However, both versions could not build on the success of the original.
