Muff Winwood (bassist) (Amsterdam, 1966)

Mervyn "Muff" Winwood (born June 5, 1943 in Birmingham ) is an English musician and record producer. He is the older brother of the famous musician Steve Winwood and best known as the bass player for the Spencer Davis Group .

Life

Connected to music at an early age by his father, he founded his first band as a child. "Muff Woody Jazz Band" was the first of his bands that his younger brother Steve played in.

In 1963 they joined the guitarist Spencer Davis and together with the drummer Pete York they formed the Spencer Davis Group, with which they had great success. When his brother Steve left the band in 1967, he did the same and has been a producer ever since. B. the first album of the Dire Straits .
