Franco Prete

Franco Prete (born May 20, 1933 in Treviso ; † June 29, 2008 in Venice ) was the initiator and driving force of the multinational artist group and the Origine publishing house . He was also active as a poet and writer .

Live and act

Franco Prete grew up in Venice, where he also attended elementary school. After high school in Turin , he attended the institute on the Rosenberg in St. Gallen .

After lengthy study stays abroad (including Cambridge and Sorbonne ), he completed a degree in modern literature and languages ​​in Paris and Heidelberg .

From 1957 to 1993 he worked initially for the High Authority of the Coal and Steel Community , then for the European Parliament, first as a simultaneous interpreter and conference interpreter, then as a senior civil servant and finally as Director General.

Commitment to origine

In addition to his professional career, Franco Prete and his wife Herrad Prete , Edmond Dune and Arnaldo Ferragni founded the multinational artist group Origine and the publishing house of the same name in Luxembourg City around 1960 with the aim of promoting the cultural exchange of Franco-Italian poetry and art.

As a poet and writer, Franco Prete published numerous of his own works, mostly in Italian.

From 1960 to 2008 he also published numerous works by the most famous poets in Italy, France and Belgium in various forms (collections, anthologies, individual and collective editions, literary reviews).
