The Institut auf dem Rosenberg is a private, international boarding school in St. Gallen , Switzerland. It is one of the oldest and best-known private schools in Switzerland .

history

The institute on the Rosenberg was founded in 1889 by Ulrich Schmidt and originally bore the name of the founder, Institut Dr. Schmidt. After his death in 1924, today's institute was founded on the Rosenberg and acquired in 1930 by the Gademann family, who still own it today. The maxim of the Swiss pedagogue Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi , "Learning to live is the ultimate goal of all education", forms the basis of the educational philosophy of the school.

The boarding school does not confirm or deny names of current or past students with the exception of Mario J. Molina , 1995 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry.

The campus is located in a private 100,000 square meter park above the city of St. Gallen. The students are accommodated in separate restored Art Nouveau villas in single or double rooms.

classes

The boarding school students are usually between 6 and 18 years old. The boarding school has a ratio of employees to students of 1: 4 and an average class size of 8 to 10 students. 99% of students begin university after graduation. About 90% of the students in the institute speak two languages, 60% of the students speak three or more languages. The boarding school offers five different school systems.

The school offers language courses and special courses (IELTS preparation, SAT workshop) at three different course locations in summer and a special winter course in winter.

After-school activities include tennis , golf , horse riding , chess , fencing , water sports , skiing and snowboarding in winter and cultural activities during the school year.

Annual basic fee: CHF 84,000 Expected annual fees including extras: CHF 100,000 and more.
