Muffuletta is a type of sandwich and a New Orleans specialty .

The muffuletta was first sold in 1906 at the Central Grocery store in New Orleans on Decatur Street, which was run by a Sicilian immigrant named Salvatore Lupo.

A muffuletta consists of a round wheat flour bread sprinkled with sesame seeds , halved horizontally and topped with slices of thinly sliced ​​Italian salami , coppa , mortadella , provolone and marinated olive salad (olives, celery, carrots, spices), which is found everywhere in New Orleans is available in glasses.
