Johann Hermann von Elswich

Johann Hermann von Elswich (born June 19, 1684 in Rendsburg , † June 10, 1721 in Stade ) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

Elswig came from a family who had been driven out of Geldern by Duke Alba and who had fled to Holstein .

He studied at the universities of Lübeck , Rostock (1703), Leipzig , Jena and Wittenberg . In Wittenberg he acquired the academic degree of a Magister on October 18, 1709 and was accepted as an adjunct in the philosophical faculty on December 25, 1712 .

He turned to the study of theology and obtained a licentiate degree . In 1717 he went to the St. Cosmae et Damianikirche in Stade as the main pastor, where he finally died.

As a Lutheran dispute theologian, he made a name for himself during his time and was considered a learned person.
