Muhammad Haiqal Hanafi (born April 29, 1999 ) is a Malaysian athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Muhammad Haiqal Hanafi gained his first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships in Ho Chi Minh City in 2016 , where he reached the semi-finals in the 200-meter run and in 39.91 with the Malaysian 4-by-100-meter relay s won the silver medal behind the Taiwanese team. In 2018 he again took part in the Junior Asian Championships in Gifu , this time eliminated over 100 meters in the first round and finished eighth over 200 meters in 21.71 s. In addition, he was disqualified with the relay in the final. At the end of August he took part with the relay at the Asian Games in Jakarta , was used there in the preliminary stages and the relay was disqualified in the final. In 2019 he won the Southeast Asian Games in Capas in 10.35 s over 100 meters and secured the silver medal behind Thailand in 39.78 s with the relay.

In 2019, Hanafi became the Malaysian champion in the 100 and 200 meters.
