Muhiddin Tillojewitsch Kabirov ( Tajik Муҳиддин Кабирӣ Muhiddin Kabirij , Russian Муҳиддин Тиллоевич Кабиров * 20th July 1965 in the province of Faizabad , Socialist Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR ) is a Tajik politician, former member of the Tajik Parliament and chairman of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan , which has been officially banned in Tajikistan since August 2015 .

biography

After eight years of schooling, Kabirow graduated from the technical school for statistics in the city of Ordschonikidseabad (now Wahdat ) in 1983 . After completing his military service, in 1987 he enrolled at the Arab Department of the Tajik State University (now the Tajik National University ). In 1992, Kabirov took a special preparatory course at the Industrial University in Sanaa , the capital of Northern Yemen . In 1993 he was accepted into the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Between 1995 and 1997 Kabirov pursued entrepreneurial activity in Moscow , where he worked as general director of the cultural center "Sino" and as deputy general director of the private joint-stock company "Kalif".

In 1997, Kabirov moved from Moscow to Dushanbe , where he was appointed assistant to the chairman of the Islamic Party of Rebirth (IPW) Said Abdulla Nuri . At the suggestion of Nuri, Kabirow rose first to the position of deputy chairman of the IPW in 2000, and after Nuri's death in 2006 to the position of party chairman. At the IPW party conference in 2010, he was re-elected as party leader. In 2005 and 2010 Kabirov was elected to the lower house of the Tajik parliament. In 2015, however, the IPW was unable to return to the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan . The party leadership then did not recognize the election results.

After the historic defeat, Kabirov went abroad in March 2015 (according to assumptions, to Turkey ). Due to the increasing reprisals of the regime of Emomalij Rahmon against the IPW, the supporters of Kabirov advised him against a return to Tajikistan. Shortly afterwards, the Tajik government put Kabirov on the Interpol list, classifying him as a radical Islamic militant. But at the beginning of 2018, Kabirov was removed from this list due to the politically motivated nature of the persecution.

In February 2017, Kabirow was granted asylum status in one of the European countries. His exact whereabouts are kept secret for security reasons.
