Muhidin Hamamdžić

Muhidin Hamamdžić (born April 16, 1936 in Sarajevo , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian veterinary scientist and former mayor of Sarajevo.

Life

From 1950 to 1954 he attended the II Muška Gimnazija school in his hometown . This was followed by studies at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Sarajevo . From 1961 to 1971 he was employed as an assistant at the faculty, and from 1965 he held a research grant at the University of Zagreb . In 1971 he received his Ph.D. from the University of Sarajevo. and worked from 1971 to 1976 as assistant professor for veterinary medicine in Sarajevo. 1972 and 1974 he had research grants at the Medical University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee , 1974 as a Fulbright grant . From 1976 to 1982 he was associate professor and then full professor in Sarajevo from 1982. In 2006 he retired .

In 2000 he took over the position of mayor of the Bosnian capital Sarajevo, which he held until 2005.

Hamamdžić published a large number of scientific papers and has received several awards. Since 2006 he has been a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Bosnia-Herzegovina .

He is married and has two children.
