Mulartshütte (riding stables)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mulartshütte was a riding facility on the upper Vichtbach below the village of Rott in the area of today's municipality of Roetgen in the Aachen city region .

The ironworking hut was first mentioned in 1504 and is probably named after its owner Mulart. Later, the town of the same name, Mulartshütte , arose here , today also part of Roetgen.

The iron ores necessary for the hut can be found as passages or weathering formations in the sand and clay stones of the Devonian . In the vicinity of the village of Mulartshütte, a geological teaching and hiking trail has been set up for the geological and mining history witnesses of the iron industry.
