Rott is the second largest district of the municipality of Roetgen in the city region of Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia and is located between Alt-Roetgen and Roetgen- Mulartshütte on the L 238. East of Rott, the Lensbach flows, which flows north of the village into the Vichtbach , which flows west of Rott . The floodplains around " Vichtbachtal with Grölis, Schlee and Lensbach " are designated as a nature reserve.

The area around Rott came to Prussia in 1815 ; In 1816 the independent communities of Roetgen and Rott merged to form a mayor's office. In 1934 Roetgen, Rott and Zweifall formed the Roetgen office with Mulartshütte and voluntarily joined together to form a community on July 1, 1969.

Rott belonged to the dissolved Monschau district and this to the also dissolved administrative district of Aachen , see Aachen Law .

In Rott there is a kindergarten in the Aachen region. In 1902 the Roetgen / Rott volunteer fire brigade was formed.

Giersberg station of the cross

At the Vichtbach below the village is the youth tent site in Rotterdell, which is looked after by the German Scout Association Sankt Georg (DPSG). The Way of the Cross, which climbs up from the valley, runs in the Lensbachtal on the Giersberg, which was built in 1952 as thanks for the fact that Rott survived the Second World War unharmed. At the end of 2015, the Way of the Cross was placed under monument protection.
