The Mullayanagiri or Mullayana Giri ( Kannada ಮುಳ್ಳಯ್ಯನಗಿರಿ ) is an approximately 1925 m high mountain peak in the Baba Budan Mountains , an eastern branch of the Western Ghats in the Chikmagalur district in the southern Indian state of Karnataka .
location
The Mullayanagiri is about 21 km (driving distance) northwest of the district capital Chikmagalur in a north-south mountain range that is geologically classified as the eastern foothills of the Western Ghats. The summit is above the tree line.
Ascent
You can drive up to an altitude of about 1700 m. The last approx. 230 meters in altitude can only be covered on foot.
Others
On the summit - often surrounded by fog - there is a Shiva temple as well as a small restaurant and a radio station.
