Mumbuluma Falls

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mumbuluma Falls are three waterfalls with the same name in Zambia .

  1. The two falls of the Luafumu River 33 kilometers north of Mansa (coordinates above). The first double waterfall is the most spectacular and famous. It is located in the province of Luapula . The next two are in the Northern Province . Nearby are the temples of the two protective spirits Makumba and his sister Ngosa . The sacred fire in him must never go out. The priests are responsible for maintaining it. According to legend, both guardian spirits fell from heaven. Below the second waterfall is a deep pool.
  2. The Kalungwishi rapids three kilometers east of Kundabwiku Falls (09 ° 06 S, 29 ° 12 'E), which, compared to the other, very spectacular waterfalls of this river, such as the Lumangwe Falls , Chimpepe Falls , Kabweluma Falls and Kundabwiku Falls, drops significantly, but scenic is very beautiful.
  3. The waterfall 40 kilometers south of Mporokoso of the (western) Luangwa , which is to be distinguished from the great Luangwa (09 ° 18 'S, 29 ° 28 E).

This frequency of the name should come as no surprise, because ku-mbuluma means to growl, to roar in Chi bemba . You just have to tell these waterfalls clearly apart, because they are 300 kilometers apart. (A mumbulum case in the Copperbelt is also incorrectly stated, but with the coordinates of the one at Mansa.)
