The Lumangwe Falls of the Kalungwishi River are located in Zambia in the Northern Province 150 km north of Lake Bangweulus in the direction of Lake Mweru, nine kilometers from the main road between the places Kawambwa and Mporokoso . With a height of 30 meters and a width of 100 meters, they are known as the “little Victoria Falls”. They are named after the "spirit of the great snake", Lumangwe, who, according to legend, winds five kilometers from these falls through the wide floodplain to the falls of Kabweluma. The Kabweluma Falls are 25 meters high and 70 meters wide in the rainy season, hardly less impressive. They are followed by a densely wooded gorge.

This area and both waterfalls are well developed for tourists and are part of many safari trips in northern Zambia. The Kalungwishi River offers a number of impressive waterfalls: the Lumangwe Falls, Chimpepe Falls , Kabweluma Falls, Kundabwiku Falls and Mumbuluma Falls .
