Mummenfass

Mummenfass or Mummefass was called the barrel for Mumme in the Duchy of Braunschweig , a type of beer from Braunschweig that originally contained a lot of alcohol . In Magdeburg , the Mummefass was used to store and transport the "Magdeburg city beer". The volume was 100 to 105 small rooms (about 375 to 395  liters ).

Ludeke Krage , the mayor of Braunschweiger Neustadt , is said to have fled the city in the direction of Hanover in a barrel during the “ uproar of poverty ” in 1513 .
