Munro is a Czechoslovak-American animated short film directed by Gene Deitch in 1961.

action

Munro is a little four year old boy who never washes his face and does not want to eat or play. One day he is drafted into the US Army . Since everyone in charge is too stuck in their routine or posing with prominent draftsmen, Munro is actually found suitable and begins his training as a soldier. Every now and then he tries to draw attention to his young age, but is accused of only imagining his age or of being a simulant because four-year-olds are not drafted.

Munro believes himself to be an adult over time. He now wants to be just as good a soldier as everyone else. When new men come to the army to be trained, the sergeant points to him: How he should be the newcomers, after all, men are separated from cowards in the army. Munro starts crying. The sergeant and any other officials who ran over instruct him to quit because he was a man and not a child. Only over time do they realize that Munro is actually a child. He is honorably discharged. A grand reception is given in his hometown in his honor. He is considered a hero. However, if he refuses to wash his face or to eat in the future, his mother will only show him an Army helmet and Munro will be the most obedient and well-behaved boy in the world.

production

Munro came into theaters in September 1960 as part of the Rembrandt animated film series Noveltoons . Munro is the film adaptation of a story from Passionella and Other Stories by screenwriter Jules Feiffer, who processed his own time in the Army in it.
