history

Untermusbach is a so-called Waldgedinggemeinde , the place has existed at least since the 7th century. The donation of a farm from the Dornstetten district to the Lorsch Abbey in 767 proves that the landscape was already settled at this time.

The Dornstetter Waldgeding used to be a forest cooperative with special rights and its own jurisdiction. The Waldgedingorten also included Frutenhof, Grüntal, Aach, Wittlensweiler, Dietersweiler and Hallwangen. As the administrative center, Dornstetten was not a direct member of Waldgeding.

Before the Reichenbach Monastery was founded, Untermusbach was probably a community with Obermusbach under the name "Muosbach". The oldest document mentioned in Musbach is from the year 1274. Untermusbach was given to Württemberg in 1320 as a pledge .

In 1938 the municipality of Obermusbach was incorporated into the municipality of Untermusbach.

With the incorporation of Untermusbach into the city of Freudenstadt, the part name was changed to Musbach. This again corresponded to the ancient common place name before 1075.
