The Museum Haus CG Jung in the former home of Carl Gustav Jung and Emma Jung- Rauschenbach in Küsnacht on Lake Zurich gives insights into the life and work of the psychiatrist and founder of analytical psychology and his wife, who also works as an analyst.

history

After CG Jung had found a plot of land that met his wishes directly on the Küsnacht lake in 1907, he played a key role in the planning and design of the house and garden. The architect Ernst Robert Fiechter , a cousin of CG Jung and the garden architects Walter and Oskar Mertens , who are related to Emma Jung, were called in for the construction .

The two-story house, built in 1908, stands in a spacious garden between Seestrasse and the bank. On the street side there is a representative courtyard facade with a staircase tower and two inscription panels. The inscription Vocatus atque non vocatus deus aderit (“Called or not called, God will be there”) is carved over the entrance .

The house, which also provided a psychological practice in addition to living space, was occupied by the family in 1909 and lived in by CG Jung until his death in 1961. Since 2002 the house has been owned by the CG Jung Küsnacht Foundation, which now operates the museum.

Following the restoration of the gardens and interiors, largely true to the original, the museum opened in April 2018. The museum, which sees itself as a house of scholars and living museum, can be visited as part of guided tours. The central motto here is “Visiting CG and Emma Jung-Rauschenbach”. The permanent exhibition in the salon, dining room and veranda is dedicated to Jung's family life and leisure activities, while the study / practice, waiting room and library provide an insight into the working methods and research interests of CG Jung. Another room is reserved for temporary exhibitions . It shows exhibitions from the extended subject area.
