history

The building was built in 1923 during the Japanese colonial era. Until Korea's independence from the Japanese Empire in 1945, it was used to display products from the Heian-nandō province .

After independence, Kim Il-sung is said to have founded the Labor Party of Korea there on October 10, 1945 . Many of the first party meetings are said to have taken place here. The Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of North Korea is said to have worked in the building.

In 1970 the building was expanded into a museum. Part of the museum is the nearby house where Kim Il-sung lived in the early years of his reign.

Facility

In the two-storey museum, Kim Il-sung's study, reception room and conference room are designed in their original state and there are seven exhibition rooms in which historical materials about the founding of the party are on display.
