The museum association is a member of the museum association for Lower Saxony and Bremen.

history

In 1976, the museum association was initially brought into being as a loose amalgamation of the five museums that existed at the time, and on June 11, 1980 it was entered in the register of associations. Today all thirteen Lüchow-Dannenberg museums are united under the umbrella of the museum association.

tasks and goals

The central task is to lead the museums of the Lüchow-Dannenberg district to work together without slowing down their “own sense” (and that is to be understood in two senses). The independence and the existing property rights of the museums remain unaffected by the activities of the museum association. Special importance is attached to the regular inter-museum exchange of expertise.

The last major projects of the museum association were the exhibitions “Collecting GORLEBEN” - Plea for a Central Documentation and Research Center (2002), “In Search of Traces after Death” (2004) and “The Jeetzel: A River Tells Stories” (2013 / 2014).

The museum association also provides financial support. Be subsidized

  • the acquisition and protection of exhibits as well
  • Scientific publications.
