Marc-Philippe Weller

Marc-Philippe Weller (* 1974 ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Life

From 1995 Weller studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Montpellier . In 1998 he obtained the French license en droit privé in Montpellier , and in 2000 the German first state examination . Since his return from Montpellier, he has worked at the Institute for International and Foreign Private and Business Law at the University of Heidelberg with Erik Jayme . In 2002 Weller passed his second state examination, after which he took up a position as a lawyer. In 2004 he received his doctorate under Peter Hommelhoff , also in Heidelberg. This work was awarded the Max Hachenburg Memorial Prize. His habilitation took place in 2008 at the University of Cologne under the supervision of Heinz-Peter Mansel . This work in turn was awarded the Helmut Schippel Prize.

He then taught at the University of Mannheim . As a part-time job, Weller became a lecturer at the Mannheim Business School, which he has remained to this day. He turned down an offer at the University of Tübingen in 2011, but accepted the offer at the University of Freiburg in 2011. There he became director of the Institute for Commercial and Business Law. Another change followed in 2014, this time to his alma mater in Heidelberg. There he has been one of the directors at the Institute for International and Foreign Private and Business Law since July 1, 2014.

Weller is a member of numerous associations, including the civil law teachers' association , the Société de Législation Comparée in Paris and the German-French Lawyers Association. He is also co-editor of the journal for corporate and corporate law and the journal for European private law .
