The joint municipality Elbtalaue is a joint municipality in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district . It was formed on November 1, 2006 from the joint municipalities of Dannenberg (Elbe) and Hitzacker (Elbe) . The basis for this is the Lower Saxony law to strengthen local self-government in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district . The seat of the joint community is the city of Dannenberg (Elbe) . There is a branch office of the administration in the city of Hitzacker (Elbe) .

Since November 1, 2006, the Elbtalaue community has comprised two cities and eight communities. The community-free area of ​​Göhrde does not belong to the integrated community.

Joint council

Joint mayor of the municipality

Jürgen Meyer (independent) has been the full-time mayor of the joint municipality of Elbtalaue since 2006. In the last mayoral election on May 25, 2014, he was re-elected as incumbent with 51.2% of the vote. The turnout was 50.8%. Meyer began his further term on November 1, 2014.
