Jameln is a municipality in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Lower Saxony ; it is part of the Elbtalaue community .

Community structure

The municipality of Jameln has consisted of ten districts since the municipal reform of 1972. There are also three living spaces: Hoheluft, Jamelner Mühle and Krammühle. The main town of the Jameln municipality is Breselenz.

Before 1972, Hoheluft belonged to the Volkfien community; Jamelner Mühle to the municipality of Jameln and Krammühle to the municipality of Breselenz.

The main town of the municipality is Breselenz with around 450 inhabitants.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1972, the communities Breese im Bruche, Breselenz , Breustian, Jameln (old community), Langenhorst, Mehlfien, Platenlaase, Teichlosen, Volkfien and Wibbese were incorporated into the new community Jameln. The reason for the surprising naming lies in a compromise between the former parishes of Breselenz and Jameln, according to which Breselenz has waived its privilege due to the location of the school, the church and the name of the sports club. However, the place remained the center of the community.

The new development areas Dobro (Jameln) and Zieleitz (Breselenz) lie between the two central villages. As the development of the Zieleitz II development area increases, both places will merge into one location. After the designation of the new Breselenz construction section Zieleitz III, the places will only be separated by a narrow strip of green.

The village of Jameln is characterized by a well-preserved circular road with a village square and a circular road. This type of settlement can be found in many villages in the Wendland , but the majority without a ring road in Rundling.

In the district of Breese i. Bruche is home to the manor chapel built by Otto Grote in 1592 , which is still owned by the von Grote family today. The chapel is an important church building in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district, one of the northernmost representatives of the Weser Renaissance . A rectangular brick building with a half-timbered sacristy in the east and turrets in the west, the two gables structured with pilasters and ledges. The furnishings consist of a two-story, richly decorated gallery, a baptismal font from 1600, a pulpit altar from 1717, patronage from 1865 and an elaborate alabaster epitaph from 1631. In 1595, Hans Gödeke completely painted the wooden barrel vault.

Worth seeing in Breselenz is the neo-Gothic brick church of St. Martin , built in 1859, with a late Gothic St. Mary's altar from the 15th century and the pulpit from 1600 donated by Fritz vd Berge. A bell from 1458 hangs in the west tower. In 2007 the church was renovated. The original painting from the 19th century was restored.

The former mansion in Breselenz, a two-storey and once representative half-timbered building built in 1749, is now in a very poor and dilapidated condition.

In 1931 a new brick church was built in Wibbese on a hill above the village. Next to the simple altar are carved medieval figures of saints. The altarpiece was painted by the Bellahn-based painter Arnold Weber. In the church there are regular services according to the Taizé order .

Regular events

The community is known throughout the district for its two carnival festivals (Breselenz and Jameln).

Economy and Infrastructure

Apart from the Raiffeisen goods cooperative, a few handicrafts, restaurants and farms, there are no major economic activities in the community. Biogas plants were built in Jameln and in the Volkfien district . Both also supply the area with district heating . Volkfien is fully supplied with district heating and has been recognized as a model village bioenergy.

traffic

The B 248 runs through the municipality of Jameln in a north-south direction through the hamlets of Jameln and Platenlaase. This is where the Dannenberg – Lüchow bus line runs.

The Deutsche Regionalisenbahn operates the Dannenberg – Lüchow line , but traffic is still. The train station is located on the south-eastern edge of Jameln in the direction of Platenlaase.

In autumn 2005, the first gas station in Germany for biogas was opened. The biogas plant planned by the Regio-Aktiv association will be built near the cooperative (RWG Jameln; Am alten Bahnhof) and connected to the cooperative's petrol station on federal road 248 at the exit towards Lüchow.
