Geographical location

Karwitz lies to the west of the town of Dannenberg (Elbe), embedded in the moraine landscape of the Drawehn ; the community area rises between 32 m and 110 m above sea level.

Community structure

Since the municipal reform of 1972, the municipality of Karwitz has consisted of the seven districts listed below. In addition, there are five residential spaces at Alt-Pudripp, Karwitz train station, Lebbien farm, Thunpadel mill and Zieleitz. The former forest settlement Parpar has been deserted since it was abandoned in the 1970s .

Before 1972, the Karwitz train station, the Lebbien court, the Thunpadel mill and Gamehlen belonged to the Thunpadel municipality; Alt-Pudripp zu Pudripp as well as Dragahn, Lenzen, Nausen and Zieleitz to the municipality of Karwitz.

Road traffic

The B 191 Uelzen - Dannenberg runs through the districts of Pudripp and Karwitz and ensures the transport links to the basic center of Dannenberg as well as to the middle center of Uelzen.

Rail transport

The Uelzen – Dannenberg railway line running through the municipality has been closed. The former Karwitz train station is about 2 km southeast of the main town. About five kilometers west of the main town in the district of Pudripp is the former Pudripp train station.
