Thunpadel is the easternmost part of the Karwitz community in the Elbtalaue community in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Lower Saxony .

geography

The village is located in the Lower Drawehn , 1 km east of the core area of Karwitz, north of the B 191 .

To the east of the village is the Maujahn nature reserve .

history

At its core, Thunpadel has retained its round shape and has some well-preserved large four-column hall houses from the second half of the 19th century, but also, for example, an even older small hall house from the late 18th century ("Rundling 6"). The old oak trees that surround the village square also contribute to the overall impression of the listed circular building. Later the local development was extended to the north. At the Prisser Bach south of the village there was a water mill that has been abandoned and is now partially in disrepair.
