Museum Center Berlin-Dahlem
The Museum Center Berlin-Dahlem is a building complex in the Berlin district of Dahlem in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district . Today it only houses the collection of the Museum of European Cultures of the National Museums in Berlin . The official address is Lansstraße 8 . The main entrance is at Arnimallee 25.
The oldest plans for the building complex go back to the years 1914 to 1923. The decisive factor was Wilhelm von Bode's operation , the first drafts came from Bruno Paul . The structural implementation in the New Objectivity style , however, only took place from 1969 to 1973 by Fritz Bornemann and Wils Ebert .
In the past, the following collections were also located there:
- Museum of Asian Art (until January 2017)
- Ethnological Museum (until January 2017)
- Gemäldegalerie (until June 1998)
Since the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art will be located in the Humboldt Forum in the future , these museums at the Dahlem site were completely closed on January 8, 2017 in order to prepare them for the move.
