The Musicarama ( Chinese  音樂 新文化  /  音乐 新文化 ) is an annual international festival for contemporary music in Hong Kong . The event is hosted by the Hong Kong Composers 'Guild , the Hong Kong Composers' Association .

history

The music festival is based on the New Music Hong Kong Series initiated in 1978 . In 1992 it was renamed Musicarama . All events are broadcast by RTHK Radio 4 . Various master classes are held during the music festival .

National and international musicians are engaged. The Silesian String Quartet from Poland, the Ensemble Kochi , the flutist Robert Aitken from Canada, the pianist Michael Finnissy from England, the Het Trio from the Netherlands, the pianist Zygmunt Krause from Poland, the Trio Contrasts from Romania, the Eclipse Ensemble from China, the Quatre Roseaux Saxophone Ensemble from Japan, the pianist Peter Roggenkamp from Germany, the oboist Helen Jahre from Sweden, the Coolidge Quartet from the USA, the Hamburg New Music Ensemble from Germany, the LINensemble from Denmark, the Brass Extreme Tokyo from Japan, the Ensemble TIMF from South Korea, the Ensemble Sortisatio from Germany and the Laurel Ensemble from the USA.

In 2015 there was a cooperation with the International Society for New Music .

World premieres

More than 85 world premieres were integrated into the festival with the support of the CASH Music Fund .
