Musixmatch ( spelling : musiXmatch ) is an application for mobile devices as well as for several programs on the PC. It offers over 7.5 million lyrics in 38 languages, can play music and - similar to Shazam - recognize songs. On mobile devices, the app searches through all the songs in the device's library and finds the corresponding texts. These are also displayed when playing songs without opening Musixmatch beforehand.

history

The Musixmatch company was founded in January 2010 in Bologna , Italy by Massimo Ciociola. The first version of the application appeared in July of the same year. Musixmatch now has 30 employees and $ 8.1 million in investment funding.

Musixmatch also has contracts with EMI Group , Warner / Chappell Music , Universal Music Publishing , Sony ATV , Peermusic , BMG , Harry Fox Agency and the National Music Publishers Association .

In 2015 Musixmatch cooperated with Spotify and integrated the software directly into Spotify. This integration was ended in 2016, since then Musixmatch has only been available as a separate app.
