The Musquodoboit River is a river in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia .
The Musquodoboit River arises in the center of the peninsula Nova Scotia at the confluence of its two headwaters South Branch and North Branch Musquodoboit River 5 km northeast of Upper Musquodoboit . It flows in a south-westerly direction through the Musquodoboit Valley past the places Upper Musquodoboit, Center Musquodoboit, Elmsvale and Middle Musquodoboit. Initially the Nova Scotia Highway 336 , later the Nova Scotia Highway 224, follows the river. From Middle Musquodoboit the Nova Scotia Highway 357 runs along the lower reaches of the river. This changes its course to the south-southeast over the last 30 km. Just before the mouth of the river, Nova Scotia Highway 7 crosses the river. The Musquodoboit River finally flows into Musquodoboit Harbor 40 km east of Halifax on the south coast of the Nova Scotia peninsula . The Musquodoboit River has a length of about 90 km. The mean discharge at Crawford Falls gauge is 20 m³ / s.
The Musquodoboit River forms a spawning area for Atlantic salmon . The river is a popular recreational destination for paddlers in central Nova Scotia. There are no major rapids and waterfalls along the river.
