development

It was designed by former Contender European Champion (1976) Joachim Harpprecht for the Olympic class trials in Quiberon in 2000 , where it won every race in the one-handed dinghy competition. Since then, this type of skiff - meanwhile international unit class - has been widespread mainly in Europe. In 2004 participants from seven nations took part in regattas with this type of boat. In 2007 the first ISAF recognized world championships were held with 86 participants from 12 nations.

It is a demanding boat for experienced dinghy sailors. When this concept of a one-handed skiff was first designed, it was met with skepticism, similar to the initial reaction to the introduction of the 49er in 1996. Since then, other types of one-handed skiff such as the RS700 have been developed. The Musto Skiff has prevailed over the RS700 in Europe, which can be seen in the increasing number of class regattas. This has brought this type of boat closer to mainstream dinghy sailing.

hull

The chine hull is narrow and flat (skiff). The beams can be easily removed for transport. The fuselage is made of GRP and weighs 44 kg. Due to the solid workmanship, the hull is stable and resistant, which means that older boats also remain competitive and the boat value remains stable.

Sail

In contrast to some other single-handed skiffs, the Musto Skiff's sails are fully battened, which increases the service life and enables the sail to be trimmed to suit the weight and ability of the sailor (the profile depth can be varied).
