Success in boat building

His greatest achievement is the construction of the Musto Performance Skiffs , one -handed - Skiff with trapeze and gennaker . Since 1970 Harpprecht has been sailing the single- handed Contender designed by Ben Lexcen in Australia in 1967 . Since 1975 he has been building plastic contender dinghies himself . The Y-shaped bulkheads under the mast and transverse ribs to stabilize the area around the sword case were new . From 1982 to 2002, Harpprecht Contender built from plywood. Since then he has been producing plastic contenders for the international contender scene. To this end, he works with the Polish boat builder Henrik Chalupka. A Harpprecht plastic Contender, sailed by Jan von der Bank , became world champion in Travemünde in 2005 .

The IORchen was also a Harpprecht design . From 1979 to 1986 he did his own construction not only on the Kiel Fjord . During this time, he took part in the annual miniature world championships with the distinctive plywood hard chine .
