The wooden church of Our Lady of Częstochowskiej ( Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej w Zakopanem ) was built in 1847 by Sebastian Gąsienica-Sobczak on the initiative of Pastor Józef Stolarczyk in the style of the Malopolska wooden churches .
The building, financed by Klementyna Homolacs , was first consecrated as St. Klemens Church. Wojciech Kułach designed the interior in the second half of the 19th century. In the 1930s the Church of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa was consecrated.
The listed building is part of the Small Poland wooden architecture route .
Next to the church is the old cemetery and the brick chapel of Saints Zoërard and Benedict from 1810, the oldest sacred building in Zakopane, apart from the baroque churches that were later moved from other places.
The church , also called the Old Church , belongs to the parish of the Holy Family .
Orthodox masses for tourists from Eastern European countries are also celebrated in the church, in particular the Christmas mass on January 7th.
Geographical location
The church is located in the Zakopane center at the DW 958 , which here Kościeliska is, close to the promenade Krupówki in Vortatragraben at the foot of the Tatra .
