Our Lady Chapel in Oberbruch

The Mother of God Chapel in Oberbruch is a chapel on the Rote Weg, near the cemetery, which dates back to the time before the Thirty Years War . It is a listed building .

In 1604 a holy cane was built above the obristen gates . Possibly this was a predecessor of today's chapel, which was recorded in 1720 as a chapel in front of the Oberpfort and in 1734 and 1761 as a chapel in front of Oberthor and on the Haidenberg.

According to the inscription above the door, the chapel was rebuilt in 1686 by the later mayor Jakob Arthem and Johannes Hoch's widow.

The maintenance of the chapel was ensured by four anniversaries . In 1696 it had 55-56 guilders in capital, in 1903 it was 713.78 marks. The sacrificial monies of the faithful were not needed to maintain the chapel, as the interest was sufficient and were therefore passed on to the parish church.

Renovations were carried out in 1863 and summer 1852. After the First World War , two plaques with the names of the fallen were attached and the chapel became a warrior and memorial chapel at the same time.
