Muyinga is a city in northern Burundi . It is the capital of the province of the same name .

The city is located in the eastern part of the province, west of the Ruvuvu River , near the border with Tanzania . The absolute height is 1731 meters above sea level . Muyinga is located about 117 kilometers northeast of Bujumbura , the country's capital

The city has a population of over 138,000 inhabitants (as of 2008), of which approx. 68,000 are male and 70,000 are female.
