The Ruvuvu or Ruvubu (also Ruwuwu or Ruvusu) is a river in Burundi and Tanzania . It belongs to the upper reaches of the Nile and is counted with its right tributary Luvironza as its longest source branch.

course

The Ruvuvu rises at about 2240 m altitude in a high valley basin in the eastern edge of the East African Rift Valley, east of Kayanza . It flows mainly in a south-easterly direction. About six kilometers below the mouth of the Luvironza at Gitega , the Ruvuvu bends to the northeast. It flows through the Ruvuvu National Park and is navigable for the last few kilometers. The Ruvuvu forms the border between the two states over a length of about 40 km. Above the Rusumo Falls , it flows into the Kagera Nile .
