HiME, Childs and Orphans

The HiME ( tight. Hi ghly-advanced M aterializing e quipment , dt. "Very advanced to materializing equipment") are twelve girls, who all have extraordinary powers, so-called "Element" and somewhere on the body have a specially shaped time. Each HiME is assigned a child who gives it its power. This child draws its strength from the feelings of the HiME towards the person closest to it. If the child is defeated, that person dies. If the HiME dies, its child dies too. If the “most important person” of a HiME dies, the HiME loses its strength, which becomes clear when its mark disappears.

The mark of a HiME

Once every 300 years the glowing red comet HiME-Boshi appears in the sky, but only the HiME can see it. The Dark Prince ( 黒 曜 の 君 , Kokuyō no Kimi ) lives on this , with whom the strongest HiME is supposed to marry in order to bring prosperity to Japan.

The orphans are fighting against the HiME. These have similar capabilities as the childs, but cannot synchronize with the HiME. Hence, they are attracted to people's feelings. They are particularly used by the Searrs Foundation. This powerful multinational company wants to create the strongest HiME and marry it with the Dark Prince in order to be able to use his power for itself.

Fuka

In the Fūka region lies the Fūka Gakuen and a city. This is also the name of the mythical country that is closely linked to the fate of the HiME. The Fūka Gakuen with adjoining campus is an autonomous institution that is led and administered by the students. The adults are employed either as teachers or other staff. The highest authority, however, is the director Mashiro Kazahana, who mainly takes care of the spiritual affairs of the school and leaves the worldly concerns to the elected head girl Shizuru Fujino, who takes care of the problems of her classmates and negotiates with sponsors. Haruka Suzushiro takes care of the executive.

action

The 16-year-old Mai Tokiha ( 鴇 羽 舞衣 ) is coming to Fuuka Gakuen (Fuuka School / Campus) thanks to a scholarship . With her comes her little brother, Takumi, who is in poor health. Already on the way to school she is involved in a fight between two HiMEs, during which she discovers that she herself also has unusual powers. After a short time she gets a helper called Child named Kagutsuchi, who is a powerful white dragon who masters fire attacks.

Arrived at school learns May gradually more and more girls know that have superhuman powers and must comply with the Orphan monsters called oppose that make the school grounds and the adjacent area unsafe. She lives with the HiME Mikoto Minagi ( 美 袋 命 ).

The artificially created HiME Alyssa Searrs ( ア リ ッ サ ・ シ ア ー ズ ) tries to bring the other HiME under their control by means of a coup. After Alyssa's defeat, the twelve HiME learn that their real destiny is to fight each other. The strongest should then marry the Dark Prince, who in return guarantees a golden age for the next 300 years. Soon the Dark Prince himself interferes in the fight.
