content
The lonely mystery and crime writer Subaru Mikazuki ( 朏 素 ende ) was a bookworm even as a child and had little desire to play with other children. After his parents died, he withdrew even more. One day he finds a stray cat at his parents' grave, which he takes home. At first the two understand each other very little. The cat is just happy to be fed and Subaru wonders if he should really take it in. First and foremost, it is a new inspiration for him as a writer. Finally he decides to do it and baptizes her "Haru". Haru notices how dependent Subaru is and wants to protect and help him.
By accepting Haru, Subaru is forced to leave the house more often and to re-establish more contact with other people. So far, his editor Atsushi Kawase ( 河 瀬 篤 ) and his lively childhood friend Hiroto Yasaka ( 矢 坂 大 翔 ) have only visited him occasionally . For the cat lover Kawase, Haru is a reason to check on his protégé much more often. However, Haru hates his obtrusive manner. Hiroto also comes more often and even brings his family with him. And Subaru has to go to the pet shop for Haru, where he meets the young saleswoman Nana Ōkami ( 押 守 七 ). She gives him important tips and even turns out - together with her brother - to be a big fan of Subaru's books.
