Mydosis was an online database for dosing information of active ingredients in pediatrics . In particular, the off-label and unlicensed use often encountered in pediatrics was dealt with. The Mydosis Portal was operated in cooperation between the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg and the University Hospital Cologne .

background

Many drugs are not approved for children and adolescents because no data have been collected for this group of patients. However, the clinical situation in a number of cases, particularly in the case of very serious or rare diseases, requires therapy with drugs that are not approved for this age group; these are then used in so-called off-label use, i.e. outside of the use approved for adults. The lack of information especially for children, especially dosage regulations , in the official product information texts is addressed by the Mydosis database, which also centralizes data from various sources. Registered users can contribute to the collection of information and exchange ideas in forums via the Mydosis portal .

process

The dosing information was compiled in collaboration with a community of doctors and supplemented and completed with current scientific contributions. An integrated review process ensured the quality. The portal also provided relevant specialist information .

Re-use

Mydosis was shut down on June 15, 2012. The successor to Mydosis was Netdosis , which was operated by the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg in cooperation with the University Hospital Erlangen . Netdosis was supported by the professorship for open source software at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and the children's and youth clinic in Erlangen. In September 2013, Netdosis was also switched off. The database will continue to be used commercially.
