Mykola Dmytrowytsch Iwanyschew ( Ukrainian Микола Дмитрович Іванишев , Russian Николай Дмитриевич Иванишев / Nikolai Dmitrievich Iwanischew * November 5 . Jul / 17th November  1811 greg. In Kiev , Russian Empire ; † October 14 jul. / 26. October  1874 greg. ibid) was a Ukrainian lawyer, legal historian and university rector .

Life

Mykola Ivanyschew was born into a noble Kiev family. He studied at the Kiev Theological Seminary and at the Faculty of Philosophy and Law of the Pedagogical Institute in Saint Petersburg . After he had completed his studies in the fall of 1835, he was sent to the Faculty of Law at the University of Berlin to prepare for a professorship for two and a half years . Upon his return, he began a 30-year career at St. Vladimir University in Kiev. In 1840 Iwanyschew became a doctor of Russian jurisprudence, on October 10, 1840 he was appointed associate professor and in 1842 he became a full professor. Between 1849 and 1861 he was dean of the Faculty of Law at St. Vladimir University and between March 1862 and February 1865, Nikolai Bunge was its rector. From 1869 he was an honorary member of Kiev University. He died in Kiev at the age of 62 and was buried in the cemetery of the Floriw nunnery in the Kiev district of Podil .
