Mykyta Balabanov

Mykyta Balabanow ( Ukrainian Микита Балабанов ; * 1989 in Warasch , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian mountaineer .

Balabanov gained mountaineering experience in the Crimean Mountains , the Caucasus Mountains , the Tian Shan and the Chibinen .

During his first expedition to the Himalayas in autumn 2014, together with Mychailo Fomin and Viacheslav Polezhaiko, he managed the first ascent of the north-west pillar of Langshisa Ri over the opened Snow Queen route (ED, M5, WI4, 1500 m ascent ). The rope team needed eight days for the ascent and descent over the south face. From October 18 to 23, 2015, Balabanow and Fomin climbed the north-northwest pillar of the Talung for the first time via the Daddy Magnum Force route (M6, AI6, A3, over the entire route ED2, 2350 m, 1700 m). The alpine-style ascent lasted six days - one of the “most outstanding achievements in mountain sports” in 2015. Balabanow and Fomin were awarded the Piolet d'Or in 2016 for this .

Balabanow is married and the manager of an outdoor shop.
