Walter Laserer (born December 19, 1961 in Gosau am Dachstein ) is an Austrian mountaineer.

Life

He was the first Austrian to climb the seven highest peaks of all continents and had a guest with him at every summit. Walter Laserer has been a full-time mountain and ski guide worldwide since 1983.

As a teenager, he devoted himself to skiing off-piste and later skiing on steep mountain slopes and ice channels. Walter Laserer started climbing with his brothers Wolf and Herbert at the age of 15. Laserer attended the HBLA for forestry in Bruck an der Mur from 1976 to 1981 and began extreme mountaineering in the Dachstein, Grazer Bergland , Hochschwab and Gesäuse during this time .

After his time in the armed forces, Walter Laserer enrolled at the Technical University of Graz for geodesy and at the same time began training as a certified mountain and ski guide. During his first mountain guide training course, he met his future partner on many extreme tours, Heli Steinmassl . After completing his training, Walter Laserer devoted himself to paragliding .

In 1988 Walter Laserer founded a company and has been running it since then with his brother Herbert, who, like him, is a certified mountain and ski guide.

In May 2006 Walter Laserer reached the summit of Mount Everest with his guests Markus Büel and Karl Flock , thus completing the ascent of all Seven Summits with guests. He is the first Austrian on the summits of the Seven Summits, and the first IVBV mountain guide worldwide who has succeeded in doing this with guests.

In 2008 Walter Laserer led Helmut Linzbichler (67), the oldest "non-Asian" to the summit of Mount Everest .

Walter Laserer lives in Gosau with his wife and daughter.
