Miralucke (also called Myralucke , to differentiate also Pernitzer Miralucke ) is a cave on the Unterberg in Lower Austria .
Description and exploration
The Miralucke has the cadastral number 1867 /8 and is located in Lamwegtal on the eastern foot of the Untersberg m at an altitude of 698th The Mirabach rises from here and is also formed by the Myra Falls . The cave, located in dolomitic Gutensteiner Kalk , is an episodically active water cave and has two siphon stretches that can only be overcome by diving and partly with a rubber dinghy. The total length of the cave is over 306 m, the total height difference is 19 m.
A "complete investigation of the Myra hatch" to be commissioned by the Lower Austrian provincial government was already considered possible in 1927.
From the entrance, which is 2 m high and 1.8 m wide, you can walk north over the bridge to the chapel and rain hall with a small water basin. Here the cave continues west until it reaches the window siphon (up to this point about 70 m long). This now leads 20 m under water, with labyrinth-like stretches connected to the side. After the siphon, the corridor forks into three floors, which all reunite in front of the Teimersee . This is 40 m long and at the end of it branches off the narrow brook chasm , which can only be reached by climbing , which was discovered in 1983. The 15 m long Teimer siphon leads straight ahead , to which a spacious gap connects, the floor of which is partly covered with water. This leads into the 20 m long Käthe-Halle , at the end of which there is a passage that leads to the most distant part of the cave, the waterfall hall , which was only explored in 2003. Here a water-filled corridor prevents further progress.
Cave sagas
There are numerous legends about the Miralucke: a girl named Mira falls into the lake, an enchanted emperor with entourage is staying here, with a password you can get a treasure. Other stories are about blind fish, seamen and the entrance to the underworld.
