McAteer (1901)

Myrtle McAteer (born June 12, 1878 in Pittsburgh , † October 26, 1952 in Los Angeles ) was an American tennis player around 1900.

Career

At the US tennis championships (now the US Open ) in 1900 she won the women's singles title when she defeated her compatriot Edith Parker 6: 2, 6: 2 and 6: 0 in the final. In 1901 she lost to Elisabeth Moore in the final with 4: 6, 6: 3, 5: 7, 6: 2, 2: 6. She was also successful in doubles at the US tennis championships. She won in 1899 (with Jane Craven ) and 1901 (with Juliette Atkinson ) and reached the final in 1900.
