Gotthard myth

Gotthard Myth (Subtitle: Pass der Pioneers ) is a German documentary by Verena Schönauer. The German-language film is from 2018 and focuses on the Gotthard massif and the technical crossings in north-south direction, especially in the last 200 years.

The film is also about crossing the main Alpine ridge with the help of the two large structures Gotthard Tunnel and Gotthard Base Tunnel of the Gotthard Railway at the beginning and end of the 20th century. The construction of the Tremola road, the retreat of the alpine glaciers, the biology of the high alpine lakes and the technology of rescue flights in the area are also affected. With the collaboration of researchers from various fields such as Alexandra Binnenkade , Beat Frey, Hans Rudolf Fuhrer, Marcia Phillips, Johannes Rebsamen, Mauro Tonolla or the geographer Matthias Vollmer, historical, sociological, technical and biological aspects are presented. The artistic photo project by the Swiss Jean Odermatt about the mountains and the pass is also presented.
