Myvanwy Ella Penny (born December 21, 1984 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German-British violinist .

Myvanwy Ella Penny began playing the violin at the age of six. After her first public concerts, she received a scholarship from the Pflüger Foundation for talented young violinists in Freiburg, where she received lessons from Wolfgang Marschner and Ariane Mathäus. During this time she has already won several national and international competitions (including several 1st federal prizes at Jugend Musiziert, 1st prize winner of the international Max Reger chamber music competition in Sondershausen, WDR3 Classical Prize from the city of Münster).

She continued her violin studies at the University of the Arts in Berlin with Nora Chastain and performed, for example, with pieces by Edward Elgar . As the winner of the Ibolyka Gyarfas Competition in Berlin, she became known to a broad public. Furthermore, she was able to perfect her playing with Yfrah Neaman, Rainer Kussmaul , Klaus Bruder and the Artemis Quartet and develop her own style both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.

In addition to her concert career, Penny teaches at her own violin school, promotes young talents and also teaches at the Julius Stern Institute for the promotion of young musicians at the Berlin University of the Arts as well as on international master classes. In addition, she worked for five years as an assistant in Nora Chastain's class.

Myvanwy Ella Penny's broad repertoire includes numerous works from over 400 years of music. She developed a particular passion for contemporary works, so she also plays world premieres by well-known composers, including the "Sonata for violin and viola for one player" by Wolfgang Marschner.

She has already been seen and heard at the Marschner Festival Hinterzarten and the Beethoven Festival in Sutri in Italy. There were also numerous radio recordings, CD recordings and a portrait that was produced on SWR television .
