Nélia Soares Menezes

Nélia Soares Menezes (born November 6, 1986 in Dili , East Timor ) is a politician from East Timor. She is a member of the FRETILIN party and deputy general secretary of the FRETILIN youth. In 2016 she was deputy secretary for international contacts at FRETILIN.

Career

Menezes holds a bachelor's degree in community development. In 2017 she was head of the cabinet in the State Secretariat for Youth and Labor.

In the parliamentary elections in East Timor 2017 , Menezes ran for 42nd place on the FRETILIN list with no chance. In the early elections on May 12, 2018 , she managed to move into the national parliament in 15th place. Menezes is a member of the parliamentary commission for education, youth, culture and civil rights (commission F).
