Nélson Alexandre Gomes Pereira (born October 20, 1975 in Torres Vedras ), better known as Nélson , is a former Portuguese football goalkeeper .
Life
Nélson started playing football in his hometown at União Torreense . In 1997 he went to Sporting Lisbon . In 2003 he was only a substitute after the commitment of Ricardo . After his contract expired in the summer of 2006, he was initially unemployed, but was then signed by Vitória Setúbal in October .
Nélson was part of the Portuguese national team , but had overwhelming competition with Ricardo Pereira and Vítor Baía . He was part of the selection team at the 2002 World Cup , but was not used as the third goalkeeper.
