Nélson Augusto Tomar Marcos (born June 10, 1983 in Sal , Cape Verde ), called Nélson , is a Portuguese football player with Cape Verdean roots.
Career
society
Nélson began his professional career in 2002 with the Portuguese Vilanovense FC. The following year he moved to SC Salgueiros and for the 2004/05 season to Boavista Porto . From 2005 he fulfilled a three-year contract with Benfica Lisbon . In 2008 he moved to the Spanish Segunda División club Betis Sevilla . In the 2010/11 season he played on loan for the first division club CA Osasuna . He then returned to Betis, which in the meantime had also been promoted to the Primera División . In January 2013 Nélson moved to the Italian first division club US Palermo . For the 2013/14 season he was loaned to the Spanish first division UD Almería for a year .
National team
In 2006, Marcos played in Portugal's U-21 national team . He was also used in the European Championship qualification in 2008 and completed a few friendlies for Portugal. He played his only game for the senior national team in March 2009 against South Africa .
