Northern Cheyenne

The Northern Cheyenne (proper name: O mi sis ) are a group of Cheyenne - Indians . They lived in the Yellowstone River and North Platte River area since the 1830s . Previously they were resident together with the Southern Cheyenne further south on the Arkansas River .

They sometimes joined the Lakota and Arapaho for military campaigns . This task force defeated General Custer and his troops at Little Big Horn in 1876 . After this battle, the Cheyenne were locked on reservations in Montana . They were temporarily prohibited from practicing their religion, manners and customs.
